Synopsis

During the Holocaust, an estimated three million Jews lived in Poland, the largest Jewish community in Europe. The vast majority of these Jews were murdered by the Nazis. However, a small number of Jews managed to survive by hiding in plain sight.

These "invisible Jews" adopted new identities and lived among the non-Jewish population, often at great risk. They had to be constantly vigilant, and they could never let their guard down. If they were discovered, they and their families would be killed.

Invisible Jews: Surviving the Holocaust in Poland is a gripping account of how these Jews survived. Based on extensive research and interviews, this book sheds new light on this little-known aspect of the Holocaust.

Author

Dr. Benjamin Frommer is a historian and professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of several books on the Holocaust, including The Forgotten Survivors: Jewish Identity After the Holocaust and The Ravensbrück Concentration Camp for Women.
